As many must already know by now, successful social networks are the way they are because they find a niche that people would always keep on coming back to. I wonder now that a so simple and so expected social network to showcase man's best friend, took so long to come into play. Doggysnaps is a social network that features both pets and master keeping them all happy with a bunch of treats.

Sponsored by a charity called Dogs Trust, Doggysnaps is a place where dog lovers can gather online and discuss dog stuff in a forum, create profile pages for their dogs, showcase images of their pets (and themselves), and immortalize their pooch.

The forum part is nothing new, there are all the basic stuff abou things we discuss about dogs like food, grooming, medications, etc., Each member has a “kennel” and each kennel has dogs which the owner can add to or remove from anytime. Each dog has a profile, photo/s and personality that of course the user has to supply. This allows users to have multiple dogs in his kennel meaning if I had several pets, they would all be under my account.

Furthermore, users can not only feature their current pets but also the dogs they had that passed away. when editing the profile of every dog, Doggysnpas asks if the pet is still alive. If not, they are featured in the “In memory of…” tab. This I think is very sweet and I'm really wondering if that concept would also be as sweet when applied to humans.

Anyway, Doggysnaps has this kind of point system in “treats” but there's no contest really. Treats are given to dogs like “send a smile” on Friendster. They are merely compliments for the dog but sometimes there are pretty girls with the dog so I guess they could get a treat too.
