Dumpt.com, attractive 1GB of storage

Dumpt.com is putting up front its gigabyte storage capacity as they probably attempt to get more users on board. The file hosting and storage sector has become as crowded as video and photo sharing websites. Each web app is claiming to have more unique features. But, despite all the fantastic UI, excellent design and very functional tools, everything boils down to how big the storage capacity they offer.

A one gigabyte image dump is not bad. Upon registration, Dumpt offers users an immediate 1 gigabyte of space to upload and share photos. The photo hosting site has pretty much the usual features: unlimited gallery creation, automatic compression of images, ability to create image albums, and users can set albums/photos either public or private. Users can post comments and rate photos. Additional features include watermark free images, customized slide show presentations and a 3MB per file upload limit. This is good, since most high-resolution digital cameras nowadays have photo file sizes at 2MB or more. But you won't be uploading such huge files anyway unless you want to quickly fill up your file storage capacity.

Dumpt allows non members to upload photos as well. There are some limitations, most notable are a 1MB maximum image size per upload, non-members cannot post comments or rate images, cannot manage uploaded photos, and cannot create photo slide shows.

The web app doesn't allow uploading photos that have adult contents. However, there are some instances where photos of such nature manage to get through .

User interface may not that attractive, but its functional. Images can be viewed according to the most recently uploaded, by popularity or in random. What I would like to see is a tag cloud of the images. It could come in handy for quicker searches.

We've look at some other free hosting and storage websites in the past. If you're looking for a new one, we recommend going over through some other websites before you decide.
