Verizon has announced that they will be releasing a new phone unit this holiday season that will rival the much loved iPhone.

The LG voyager is reviewed here and in a nutshell, The Voyager will have a more traditional keypad, 2 screens, a 2MP camera and 8GB memory. Of course the Voyager will only work on the Verizon network which is according to Mashable " is widely regarded as the best in the US." Verizon already offers what Apple and AT&T does and will probably offer it better, faster and cheaper.

Aside from the Voyager, Verizon will also be releasing 2 other handsets tailored to meet the wireless multimedia offerings of the company. The Juke and Venus will be priced within the $100-$400 range.

Adam Ostrow of Mashable predicts: "While the new phones might not carry the cache of the iPhone, the biggest knock on the Apple device has been the AT&T network, so it will be interesting to see if a competitor from Verizon can gain traction."

All in all, I'm happy that there are iPhone killers out there. Personally, I think the iPhone is just a shiny expensive toy like all of Apple's products and there are better products that aren't as shiny.
