I guess I whipped up something new today. Anyway, today has a lot of small startups happy. VC funding is flowing into small and big startups regardless of being in the mainstream or not. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s good that we’re seeing a lot of the long tail players getting funded. I would be wary if this weren’t the case, remember the bubble burst? So with no further blabbering..

GrubHub.com, a Lake View, Ill.-based online delivery service and local search engine for restaurants in Chicago and San Francisco, has raised $1.1 million in first-round funding led by Origin Ventures. The company had previously been self-funded, save for a $25,000 award from the University of Chicago New Venture Challenge.

Huddle.net, a London-based provider of online workspaces, has raised $4 million in Series A funding led by Eden Ventures.

IBM has agreed to buy business intelligence and performance management software maker Cognos for $5 billion.

Again I would like to thank PEHub and TechCrunch for the information.
