Spotzer , a video advertising company has just closed on its most recent round of funding, amounting to $14.8 million. Sierra Ventures and European Directories were the backers for this round, and the funding will be used primarily to beef up the company’s sales force.

Webroot Software Inc. , a Boulder, Colo.-based provider of SpySweeper security software, has acquired Email Systems, a UK-based software-as-a-service security provider. No financial terms were disclosed. Webroot raised $109 million in VC funding two years ago from Accel Partners, Mayfield Fund and Technology Crossover Ventures.

Gilt Groupe , a provider of invite-only high-fashion "sample sales" to its members, has raised $5 million in funding from Matrix Partners.

Iotum , an Ottawa-based provider of voice services for social networks, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Verdexus.

Yossi Vardi, founding investor of ICQ’s Mirabilis, has put an undisclosed amount of money into Tel Aviv startup AllofMe.
