A blog specialized to Facebook called Inside Facebook has the inside scoop of what’s next for the popular social network / platform.   By  the end of the first quarter of 2008, we should be able to see some changes on Facebook  Although none of these changes are technologically innovative, they sure are great tools and features for any social network.

– Friend list privacy controls

– Facebook in new languages

– Blasting messages to groups with more than 1,000 members

It’s funny that the friends list feature was released doing nothing but grouping friend.  Privacy controls should have come with it from the beginning.  Though we can individually set what our friends will be able to see on our profiles, it’s still tedious to do that and by collectively discriminating a friends list, it would definitely be easier.

Additional languages on Facebook will also be added by March 2008.  Currently, Facebook is only available in English and though most of its users arent complaining with this, Facebook can definitely drive in more traffic from other countries by localizing the language.   Besides, other social networks that aren’t doing great in the US have wide user bases in other countries because of languaage options availability.

Finally, message blasting to groups with more than a thousand members will be the best addition this quarter.  It’s still a mystery why Facebook put a limit on the message blasting service in their groups  feature. by allowing blasting to more than a thousand people,  Facebook could be one of the best sources on news and events.

Again, these additions aren’t innovative but they sure are a welcome sight.
