Vodaphone has made an important announce ment today that will make the iPhone more accessible in other countries.

According to the press release, "Vodafone today announced it has signed an agreement with Apple to sell the iPhone in ten of its markets around the globe. Later this year, Vodafone customers in Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey will be able to purchase the iPhone for use on the Vodafone network."

the iphone was first released in June 2007 in the US and AT&T and Cingular were squabbling on whom the rights to distribute should go. When released in the UK, O2 had jackedup its prices just to keep Apple happy. Actually in any other country where Vodaphone did not distribute the iPhone, they had issues. And now Vodaphone just comes out and says, "ok, we got Apple to let us sell the iPhone in ten countries..suckers."

However, as dusk sets on the 2.5G iPhone, Vodaphone was not so clear if they will be distributing the 3G iPhone in the countries they mentioned.
