Google Pulls the Plug on Hello

Google is finally saying goodby to Hello .  Actually I’ve heard so little about Hello that it does make perfect sense that Google is shutting it down.  Hello was a Picasa photo sharing application that later became part of Google when Picasa was acquired.

"Hello by Google’s Picasa is [was] a free computer program that allows users to send images across the Internet and publish them to their blogs. It is similar to an instant messaging program because one can send text, but Hello focuses on digital photographs."[Wikipedia]

The service in itself is nothing new and actually really hard to make money off of since most IM services already have the capability of sending pictures.  Y!M 9 can already grab the actual picture or video when a URL is entered.

As a goodbye, the hello team has this to say:

"We hope that you continue to enjoy the other sharing products Google offers including Picasa, Picasa Web Albums and Google Talk."

It is not surprising that Hello is being let go.  Google probably has better things in mind for the great domain name.
