OMG! This May Be The Slowest News Day This Year

May 9th, 2008 at 12:00 am

When today’s shift started at the office I had about 100+ feeds in my Google Reader.  That’s potentially 100 stories to choose from and write about.  However, take about 90% of those stories and you’re left with about 10% that’s potentially a great adn interesting story to write.  Then it went down to one.

I was expecting to get some leads in my email but that didn’t work out so well too.  So I waited a couple of hours to see if there were any new news stories to pop up in the reader or in Twitter.

Still that didn’t come out so well.  Most  articles were editorial opinions or ramblings of other tech bloggers about past stories.  None were actually news.  At this point I thuoght that this might be the slowest day for news this year.

Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who thought so.  Adam Ostrow of Mashable too thought it was an unbelievably slow day for news  in his article on Facebook and Blackberry

So this post is actually just about that.  I too, like Adam, think that today is pretty slow and on that note, I’m signing out for the weekend hoping for a whopping story tomorrow or Monday.
