And they’re at it again. After recently announcing the fallout of the talks between Microsoft and Yahoo, they are back at the table yet again.

All this of course is in light of recent develoipments , mostly on Yahoo’s side of the fence. However it isn’t the same deal they were discussing a couple of weeks back. This time, at this time, there are no plans to completely buyout Yahoo. They are discussing possible deals in search and advertising where they could possibly gang up against Google. Yahoo and Google are also talking about their short weekend dry running a possible relationship. So if Yahoo was a girl, she’s playing both her suitors for the the best future… smart, cruel, insensitive hottie!

Microsoft issued a statement that they and Yahoo are back on the tble discussing a deal:

“In light of developments since the withdrawal of the Microsoft proposal to acquire Yahoo! Inc., Microsoft announced that it is continuing to explore and pursue its alternatives to improve and expand its online services and advertising business. Microsoft is considering and has raised with Yahoo! an alternative that would involve a transaction with Yahoo! but not an acquisition of all of Yahoo! Microsoft is not proposing to make a new bid to acquire all of Yahoo! at this time, but reserves the right to reconsider that alternative depending on future developments and discussions that may take place with Yahoo! or discussions with shareholders of Yahoo! or Microsoft or with other third parties.

“There of course can be no assurance that any transaction will result from these discussions.”
