Palm Pre

There has lately been an ongoing case of update battles between Apple and Palm Pre. Palm Pre once became a popular smart phone when it provided iTunes support for users. But then, Apple had never wanted such features available for other smart phones except the iPhone. This led to Apple releasing an update that blocked the iTunes synching feature to the Palm Pre.

The said blocking did not stop Palm Pre from again restoring the iTunes synching feature with their subsequent WebOS update. Not to be outdone, Apple once again released another update to block the said feature on the Palm Pre. This led to the brewing trouble between Palm Pre and Apple. And in the end, it seems that Palm Pre has given up the struggle.

The latest WebOS 1.3.1update released for the Palm Pre no longer includes iTunes support which was then blocked anew on the said smart phone by a previous Apple update. For now, Palm Pre users may unfortunately no longer able to take advantage of the previously popular synching feature. It looks like Palm Pre is taking a breather for now in the battle.

But then Palm Pre may be developing something that would replace this feature in order to keep up the interest on their smart phone. They should try to develop something similar to iTunes instead of just trying to play a game of cat and mouse with a more popular competitor. They should at least be looking for a different way to fight the battle or people will start looking the other way in the future for better smart phones. There are many options available for them. It will only be a matter of using what would work best for them.
