The search engine giant has announced that is Google Search Appliance would be able to provide results from Twitter aside from the usual Google search results.

According to Google product manager Cyrus Mistry, "Social information is important for businesses:  employees searching for information needed to do their jobs benefit from real-time, too.  They might be developing a new breakfast cereal, or designing a marketing plan for a clothing line, or writing strategy report for a political campaign.  In all of these cases, understanding what is being said just as Twitter users are saying it can be invaluable."

The Google Search Appliance aims to provide fast and relevant search for corporate intranet and websites.  Adding Twitter results would expand the scope of information that users would see and provide a real-time view of trends and issues among the general public.
