With the Internet becoming a virtual world where people from everywhere try to meet and catch up, social media has become quite popular as it is today. Social networks now abound to give online users the means to do this in different ways. And with social media sites like Facebook and Twitter becoming a common place for people to converge online, it only attracts companies such as Google to try and get into the bandwagon.

Google has been a major online search giant. And it seems that it also aims to take part in almost all the aspects of the Internet, most especially going with the trend. Since social media has become the next big thing, the online search giant is also taking its place among the current players by having their own Google Buzz.

Google Buzz is a new feature added to Gmail. It offers social media users who also have Gmail to have access through social media via their accounts. Through Google Buzz, Gmail users may be able to send and share photos, videos and other social data to either their Gmail friends or other people with their own Gmail. It may also allow users to provide status updates as well as message contacts via their Gmail accounts.

Through Google Buzz, Google may be poised up to take part with the social media buzz going on. Most importantly, it may be a means for Google to generate more valuable data directly from their own sites. And with Google Buzz also accessible through mobile phones, this would provide a more convenient way for users to keep in touch with online social media. It might be too early to say if it will have enough to pose as a challenge for other social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter. But whatever Google plans to do is something that is quite difficult not to notice.
