Online search giant Google has certainly planning not to remain in the industry that it became well known for. The company has went on to further spread its wing into other ventures. Just to name a few of them, there’s the Android mobile platform which Google has infused money and development into. There is also the Google Chrome OS, the recent acquisition of ITA Software, an online flight information service provider, and a host of other businesses that Google plans to get into. There are also reports recently going about that Google might also be getting into the realm of gaming in the near future.

There are certain reports that say Google may have been quietly infusing some investments into popular game developer Zynga. The report from TechCrunch says that Google may have invested somewhere between US$100 to US$200 million on the huge game developing firm, which is behind the wildly popular online games on Facebook like Farmville and Mafia Wars.

Although neither Google nor Zynga has announced any sort of partnership deal with each other, the supposed investment amount may be more telling of how serious Google may be into establishing such a partnership, if ever. What the TechCrunch report also says is that it is not Google’s venture capital arm but Google itself to be behind the investment.

The reason offered for this is maybe the online search behemoth may be planning to venture into the realm of gaming and may need a capable partner in the industry to do it with. We might see the emergence of Google Games in the future if ever this is true. Now that would even create a bigger giant in Google than it currently is today if they truly succeed in this new venture.
