Adobe Systems has announced that it will be introducing the new Acrobat software family which includes the Adobe Reader X. What is new for the latest version of the Adobe Reader X is that it now features sandboxing technology for added security. According to the company, it is expected to be available for download by next month.

The new Adobe Reader X will have features that the software has been known for- reliable viewing, printing PDF documents. And now, Reader X will include commenting along with Sticky Notes and Highlighter tools available for all users. It may be the only PDF file viewer that can open and interact with all types of PDF content, including multimedia and forms. But what might be the latest feature added into the new Adobe Reader X is that of the sandboxing feature that it calls Adobe Reader Protected Mode.

The sandboxing feature is not entirely new as it has been used by both Microsoft and Google in their own products. Adobe has added the feature to provide added security when viewing PDF files to minimize the risk of security threats associated with it. Sandboxing will place risk associated processes such as JavaScript execution, image parsing and others into a confined area to prevent malicious hidden applications from installing or deleting files and accessing or modifying system information and processes within Reader X. The Protected Mode will be enabled by default in Adobe Reader X.
