If you accidentally lost your BlackBerry phone, let RIM find it for you. The smartphone manufacturer has now made the BlackBerry Protect Beta available for all users, which helps remotely protect your personal information on stolen or lost BBs.

The service can help find a user’s BB through GPS and cell tower tracking. It can even make the BB let out extra-loud rings even in silent mode. If the BlackBerry is found in a very remote location, users can remotely lock the phone with a password, perform wireless backup, put up a custom message, wiping the phone off all informatio, and even wirelessly restore that backed-up data into the new BlackBerry device.

Users can simply download the BlackBerry Protect software into their BB phone to make use of the service and access the Web dashboard in case something goes wrong.

This is not the first time such service is introduced. Apple’s MobileMe started in 2008, while Microsoft’s My Phone debuted the year after.

BlackBerry Protect is available for free in the United States, Canada, and select Latin American countries.
