Report: Pandora Mobile Sends Private User Data to Ad Servers

An independent security firm has published a report alleging that Pandora mobile app is sharing more user information than what is allowable. According to the folks on Veracode, the Android version of the app “appears” to be sending information such as the users’ birth date, gender, Android ID, and GPS location to different advertising companies.

These seemingly trivial pieces of information could be combined to determine the identities of the users, what they do for a living, and even the people they associate with.

Pandora, which has been under fire over privacy concerns, declines to comment.
