Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC has recently announced its partnership with Beats Electronics LLC, the company behind the wildly popular Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. The partnership was forged when HTC acquired a 51 percent stake of the company at a cost of around $500 million. This new partnership may just help HTC further its goal of getting more and more consumers interested into its future mobile phone models.

Beats Electronics LLC has become a premier player in the high performance audio market. The now iconic Beats by Dr. Dre headphones is currently its most popular product. It has also went on to include producing speakers for the high end market for audio devices. A partnership with popular smartphone maker HTC would eventually lead to interesting opportunities for devices that would take advantage of the technology both companies hold.

By becoming a majority shareholder of Beats Electronics,  HTC may be planning to integrate the Beats audio technology into its future smartphones. This would lead to smartphones that now may have high end audio as one of its selling points, probably with audio as one of the often overlooked features in most mobile phones even today. Combine that with the popular branding that Beats currently holds in the high performance audio market, the resulting product brought by the new partnership may be something that many will be expecting in utter excitement. With the competition in the smartphone market getting even tighter, every advantage that would gain more sales in the market would be most welcome. The HTC and Beats partnership may be considered as one.
