Adobe to End Flash Player for Mobile Devices?

Rumors have been spreading about Adobe would be dropping development for Flash Player on mobile devices. According to ZDNet, citing an e-mail reportedly sent to Adobe’s partners, the company’s work on Flash for smartphones and tablets will focus on “enabling developers to package apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores.”

It would appear that Adobe has given up in its battle with Apple over the lack of Flash support on its iDevices. Android devices, meanwhile, will only receive security updates from then on.

We will get to hear an official announcement from Adobe soon if the rumors are true, along with clinks of champagne flutes from the hipsters in Cupertino.
