Google Wants You to “Solve for X”

Google has unveiled a new project aiming to tackle global problem. The project, which is introduced in its new website “Solve for X,” is similar in theory to TED where members are encouraged to come up with radical ideas to solve problems on a grander scale.

The website elaborates the definition for radical: “…in the sense that the solutions could help billions of people. Radical in the sense that the audaciousness of the proposals makes them sound like science fiction. And radical in the sense that there is some real technology breakthrough on the horizon to give us all hope that these ideas could really be brought to life.”

The project is rumored to be part of Google X, the tech company’s top-secret laboratory that aims to develop far-fetched ideas such as driver-free cars or elevators to space.

The Solve for X is currently on a by-invitation-only basis and will be conducting a conference this weekend, most likely through Google+.
