Microsoft provided technical previews of its Office 15 productivity suite to a handful of partners before it becomes available to the public. And now, The Verge has managed to scoop some leaked images about the software’s new features.

In tune with Windows’ gradual evolution, the newest Office version has some design notes borrowed from the Metro UI seen in Windows Phone handsets. The software also features a cleaner interface and touch mode for an easier method to browse documents and presentations for tablet users.

As for the individual programs, additional features have been provided. Word, for instance, would include improvements on touch commands such as double-click to zoom, video embeds, and the ability to share documents online through a browser. Meanwhile, Excel would include formatting controls and chart animations among others. Powerpoint makes it easier to drop Excel charts without the need for formatting. Lastly, Outlook now includes weather forecasts and more email account support.

The Microsoft is expected to come out of the boxes this October.
