Facebook Introduces Interest Lists

Facebook has unveiled a new feature called “Interest Lists,” which the social networking company says is a “whole new way to keep up with stuff you care about and tidy up your experience.” Sounds familiar? You know, like Pinterest? Yes, we noticed.

Anyway, Interest Lists allow users to customize their subscriptions according to topics they fancy like Art, Food, Games, Music, World Leaders, and more. These lists can help them turn their Facebook accounts into their personalized newspaper of sorts, featuring feeds for topics they liked.

If you spot that “Add Interests” button on your left sidebar, that means you can start building your Interest List. The link leads you to thousands of user-generated lists on various topics from which you can subscribe to your heart’s desire. These lists can include brand and people pages, so lists about food could consist of celebrity chefs, food critics, and pages for Food Network and CHOW.

Don’t like what you see? You can create your own list topic and take it from there. Note that feeds from Interest Lists appear separately, meaning you cannot see it on your main News Feed.

But here’s the thing: how many Facebook users would even dare create new lists? The way I see it, many FB members still use their profiles like they are used to.
