TomTom Becomes Apple’s Default iOS 6 Maps Provider

Ever since Apple ditched Google as its map provider for many of its products, speculations have been swirling as to who the lucky replacement may be.

An anonymous source tipped Engadget that TomTom has apparently taken that coveted position, with leaked screenshots (as shown in the picture) as proof. TomTom is no stranger to iOS, as its navigation app and GPS car kit have been available on the iPhone since 2009.

But photo, however, shows something deeper. The maps applications specifically states that it gathered “data from TomTom, others,” which means that some suppliers will also provide map information without being credited for it. That, or it could be that Apple is teasing us and their names will be uncovered in time.
