For professional social networking service LinkedIn, the Profile is its core product. After all, it serves as the user’s virtual resume/ job hunting tool. And as the site’s membership jumped from 32 million in January 2009 to over 175 million as of this posting, LinkedIn has announced a major overhaul on user profiles.

Rebuilt from the ground up, LinkedIn has made it easier for members to add new stuff into their profiles such as professional skills. It also has added people they may know.

A brand new “Improve Your Profile” button is also added, which looks better than listing all the details they need to fill out.

Meanwhile, connections between users have become much detail, enabling them to see where they are similar with their connections or whether they have crossed paths in the past.

“We’ve made it easy for you to build and manage your own identity on LinkedIn,” said product manager Aaron Bronzan during the unveiling event. “You can now stay engaged with your network and get insights to help you stay informed every day.”
