SpaceX HyperloopThe Hyperloop concept has been around for several years now. The fact of providing a means to travel on new rails at blistering speeds has taken many people to wonder if it is even possible. But for Hyperloop’s main proponent Elon Musk, it is, so much so that he and his company is now building the first Hyperloop track to test it out. But while the track plan is already in place, the design for the pod is not yet definite. So a competition was held to come up with possible designs for the Hyperloop pods.

In the first of its kind design competition conducted by SpaceX, the students at MIT has won the challenge for designing a pod for ultra-fast tube transport. The students now have the privilege of building the first pod to run on the planned Hyperloop track in the California headquarters of SpaceX. And no the competition does not stop there.

It is only the first of the many planned Hyperloop design challenges. SpaceX plans to open the field to other players in trying to develop the technology. Aside from building the first hyperloop track, the developers are trying to open source the technology so that many other companies may join in its development and not just let any one company invest heavily on it.
