Microsoft has been going through a lot of competition lately. It is no longer like the old days where they are always on the top of the heap. Nowadays, many players are trying to challenge them at the top. So the software giant must always be on the lookout for new ways to get that advantage over other companies. In today’s marketplace, it is having as many useful tools available for the mobile market. In order to keep relevant Microsoft’s way is too acquire them. One of the recent ones they’ve bought is SwiftKey.
SwiftKey is a keyboard app that has proven to be a useful tool for many mobile devices. It was a popular app for Android and iOS devices as an alternative to the usual mobile keypad. But now, it was recently announced that Microsoft has acquired the mobile app for an undisclosed fee.
With this new acquisition, Microsoft may be positioning itself to surround its portfolio of popular software with added tools. Since it has recently entered the mobile market with its Windows Phone and trying to establish its presence, this may be one of its first steps towards achieving that. But whether Microsoft will succeed remains to be seen. It all depends on how they will be able to take full advantage of the tool and technology they have recently acquired. It might become a turning point for the company. But then again, it may not. But who knows?
